Fire Up, Buttercup!
Welcome to the wild world of family and children's portrait photography at Faux-Toes {pronounced foh-tohs} where Kristen B. Roedner, pictured left, helps families (spitting images of one another) recognize the beauty before them (without the mess), to give them glimpses into the glorious future and to spread absolute joy. Life is too short, afterall!

Here as in life, anything can happen and that's why the flying pig is the mascot. Faux-Toes is headquartered in Lakeway, Texas some 20 beautiful miles due west of Keep Austin Weird. Call (512) 466-5577 or email kristen@faux-toes.com for more information about getting your "pitcher" took. Thanks for visiting and we hope to hear from you soon!

Summer! What do we have? A great life!! These are the chants regularly heard around my friend's home during the good ol' summertime.  When she posted on Facebook that she had installed a revolving door leading directly to her pool, another friend and I packed up the chillens, peanut butter and ritz crackers and made a 200 mile bee line from different directions. It's one of those days I won't soon forget. It was just perfectly laid back and lots of fun. Thanks for putting up with our too-tired for life tantrums and inspiring my daughter to get over her fear of water!

Enjoy the snaps from the day!

Faux-Toes always has great fun capturing the girl scouts at camps during the summer. Last week, I joined the ladies at Zilker Park in Austin and we just laughed and laughed despite the heat.  This is the sneak peek for the corporate office as they prepare to print their upcoming calendar.  To see more of Faux-Toes, check out Girl Scout's Central Texas page.

Life is good.  I hail from a small, quaint town 50 miles outside of the big city (Houston). Lots and lots of good-hearted, fun-loving people call Liberty, Texas home and one of my favorites called me last winter to set up a portrait session in celebration of her two daughters graduations from THE University. One celebrated and achieved her undergrad degree and the other her Master's. As you'll soon see the girls are gorgeous! It was a hot night on campus... some 101 degrees, but these girls kept their cool and were up for all kinds of creativity -- just like their sweet Momma. Thank you "S's" I've never had so much fun in all my life. Enjoy the sneak peek, friends!

Last fall I met new photographer friends, Lisa Woods of Now and Then Photography and Tara Morris of Tara Marie Photography at the Austin Photog group that started on Facebook. Soon we became fast friends and Tara invited us out to Camp Peniel in Marble Falls to ride horses with the kids and partake of delicacies from this gourmet diner that kids love called, McDonalds. Most of the time, while my daughter was enamored with the horses, all I could think of was that she could be squashed like a bug in no time flat!  Despite my fear and squirmishness, we all had a great time.  Rosa Jane cracked me up for several reasons. The first being she picked out her own clothes and specifically wore the "midget cowgirl" t-shirt which just makes me laugh and laugh because it's so silly. The second being she was so stinking animated talking with the horses. I can almost hear her when looking at the Faux-Toes. Can you, too? No doubt though the highlight of RJ's first trip to camp was getting the band-aid for her minor scratch. Ah, you can take the three yr old out of the city, but can't take the three year old out of the girl. Enjoy the peek into our day with friends. Thanks so much, Tara, for such a day to remember!!

Soooo cool! I love these pictures of Taz, and I'm proud of my little (or 1000 lb) boy who behaved so well when he gave everyone rides! It's amazing how much better a band-aid can make a 3 year old feel. I had a great time that day and loved meeting your daughter and Lisa's kids. My fave is the pic that's foucused into Taz's face with Rosa Jane riding him, out of focus. Beautiful

This sweet girl and her Daddy went for a walk on a glorious day. I love the visual of this. I think it's downright magical.  Shadows to the left and to the right, but glorious, beautiful light right in front of them facing life together come what may.  This is just one of the perks of my job, celebrating the moments and projecting them big into the rest of their days on planet Earth.  I can't think of a better way to spend my time.
