Fire Up, Buttercup!
Welcome to the wild world of family and children's portrait photography at Faux-Toes {pronounced foh-tohs} where Kristen B. Roedner, pictured left, helps families (spitting images of one another) recognize the beauty before them (without the mess), to give them glimpses into the glorious future and to spread absolute joy. Life is too short, afterall!

Here as in life, anything can happen and that's why the flying pig is the mascot. Faux-Toes is headquartered in Lakeway, Texas some 20 beautiful miles due west of Keep Austin Weird. Call (512) 466-5577 or email kristen@faux-toes.com for more information about getting your "pitcher" took. Thanks for visiting and we hope to hear from you soon!
Is that I believe in them, yet I've never seen one in real life and yet I keep thinking that once I see one. I mean, really see one that THAT will be the sign I need to move off the procrastination spot I've been standing on. Good Lord, this blog is over here staring at me saying "Write me. Update me." and the guilt is laid on thick. Life is moving fast. It's 2010 after all.  And my preschooler is more demanding than ever and my choice to make an impact on her while she's under my thumb has got to be my priority.  I see it no other way.  She's too precious. Too awesome to go without my influence for the betterment. So I'm shooting, so I'm posting galleries, I'm parenting and I'm slapping some dinner together. And then I sleep. Because around here there is no rest for the weary. We're up and at'em at oh-five hundred. Pretty much all of us has one eye open even if we're not totally vertical. It's a great life, I'm not complaining. I'm just asking for a little grace and patience from this unrelenting blog. Thank you to our readers and subscribers. If you want to see what we've been up to, check out this link to some of the galleries and slideshows. Peace out friends.

Jump In! it seems to be a theme for my life at the moment. before i get too overwhelmed with any situation and how far the end goal seems to be, the truth of the matter is "jump right in where you are!" hop to it and you'll find yourself closer and younger than ever before! and that line of thought is just what i need to get the next thing done.

My sweet friend Jenni had eye surgery on Friday and so I got to play with the kids on Sunday.  We had so much fun together!  I just adore their personalities and who they are. Why, they are great little subjects and the best little jumpers ever. So take it from me and jump right in where you are!

Enjoy the Faux-Toes!

Hi Kristen -- I'm Sydney and Connor's auntie (Jenni's sister), and though we've never met, I've heard lots of wonderful things about you. These photos are GREAT! I think I can actually hear Van Halen in the background. :) What would a proud auntie have to do to get copies of these?!

With all this rain, we're making the best of the situation with indoor studio shoots. These cute girls are our neighbors and they have the best sense of humor.  We laugh and laugh and laugh every time we're together.  The eldest is four and the youngest just turn one.  Happy Birthday, girls!  I hope the year ahead is one to grow on and then some!

these lovely ladies have been friends since they were eight years old on the playground. i had the best time meeting up with them downtown to hear some of their wild and crazy tales of their younger days. it really is amazing how quickly time flies, but the love of a girlfriend never fades.  thank you, gals, for inviting me along on your special weekend. it was a treat to remember! i hope you enjoy the Faux-Toes!

Boy, it's been a shakeup!  Everything's different. The temps are cold, it's raining -- that's right, folks, in the land of hot, dry drought we've been on a respite from the sun and the lake's filling up while businesses are closing on main street and we're looking around going, what's next? Watch out for that flying pig! In mid December we got the notice that our beloved preschool was closing. I always believe everything happens for a reason, so I took the queue and looked forward to spending some quality time with my girl.  Afterall, I just have one more year with her before she's a full-time student of the world. I gotta make sure she knows how to laugh at herself before the lessons start rolling.  That being said, we've only scheduled a few photo sessions in dear old-twenty-ten. Our clients have been wonderful to adjust to our new family first philosophy and we're really having more fun than ever.  Here's a sneak peek at some recent work:

This party was the most fun! The kids learned a dance to perform for the parents and when it was all over, it was time for Princess Minny to enchant the kids with lovely songs of magic and love.  Everyone had a great time and you can see the princess was queen for a day!  Enjoy the pics!
